In July 2007, Targacept and GSK announced a broad discovery, development and commercialization collaboration covering five programs against neuronal nicotinic receptor (NNR) targets across a range on neurological disorders. The alliance allowed the ceedd the option to bring discovery programs across five therapeutic areas into GSK. Targacept's alliance with the ceedd focuses on drug discovery and development to treat CNS disorders like pain, smoking cessation, obesity, addiction and Parkinson's disease, by selectively targeting NNRs. The alliance promises to accelerate the development and delivery of new, pioneering NNR therapeutics to patients.
