GSK and Ranbaxy, both a generics and a research based international pharmaceutical company, have a long running discovery and clinical development collaboration. This alliance came to the ceedd in 2005 whereupon new programs were initiated as part of the ceedd strategy to broaden the therapy area scope of the deal and build upon the expertise both within Ranbaxy and within GSK. Ranbaxy offers unique medicinal chemistry expertise and novel approaches to drug discovery. GSK can complement these skills providing feedback on commercial areas of value and development planning expertise. The alliance has clinical assets in development and more candidates are expected soon.
