NeuroSearch

Developing novel pharmaceuticals focused on ion channels for treatment of central nervous system disorders

NeuroSearch and GSK have had a long running research and development alliance comprised of a number of research programs within ion channels and central nervous system (CNS) disease. The alliance was reorganized under the ceedd in 2006 and extended in 2009 allowing NeuroSearch to take assets through to clinical PoC and look beyond CNS indications. Flexible contracts such as this highlight one of the core ceedd strategies, which is to work across multiple therapy areas in order to maximize the potential of any given platform and help reduce risk. By complementing NeuroSearch's extensive capabilities in ion channel modulation in the CNS area the ceedd has been able to provide access to the strengths and resources of GSK, driving the science forward into new dimensions.

"We have collaborated with GSK under the ceedd structure for several years and we strongly support the GSK ceedd way of organizing R&D alliances. Through joint and highly fruitful efforts, we have discovered and matured several novel compounds with various therapeutic profiles, which we are now progressing in development with the overall aim of establishing better medicines for the treatment of CNS disorders."
