about us : why work with us?

Give your ideas room to grow Driving the creation of the CEEDD was the need for clear sponsorship and accountability within GSK for assets developed through alliances. We therefore manage the full scope of the business and project management aspects of our alliances. Unlike traditional alliance and in-licensing models, however, our alliance companies retain the independence to develop their compounds through to clinical proof of concept; calling on our team as needed. On your wavelength
The CEEDD was specifically designed for its purpose. With a core team of just 19 highly experienced members representing all essential functions, the CEEDD acts with the speed and agility of its biotech collaborators, while providing an ideal interface into the wider GSK organization. The group contains experts in the fields of biology, chemistry, preclinical and clinical development, project and alliance management, commercial, finance, and business development.
Your success is our success
The CEEDD tends to engage biotech companies at an earlier stage than when pharma licensing departments typically become interested. The risk-sharing approach adopted by the CEEDD allows GSK to invest in biotech companies with less validation yet in their platforms or portfolios. The CEEDD can work across therapeutic areas, and is particularly suited to working with companies whose platforms and science have broad application. With no internal pipeline to manage, the CEEDD is completely focused on the success of its alliance companies’ programs.
A wealth of resources
A CEEDD partnership gives collaboration compounds an increased chance to reach their full potential, and provides public validation for the collaborating company and its technology platform. The CEEDD brings an extra management team to the table, and can marshal a wealth of resources if needed. For example, alliance companies can benefit from GSK’s large compound screening libraries and genetic research tools, as well as expertise in experimental medicine, biomarkers and imaging. Above all, alliance companies derive confidence from GSK’s success in moving compounds from clinical proof of concept to commercialization.
"Where the CEEDD can help, we draw on many areas of expertise to bring you fresh ideas, smart answers, and innovative solutions. We work with our Medicine Development Centres to define POC success criteria upfront, and champion program transition from positive proof of concept into late-stage development within GSK." Robert DiCicco, VP Project and Alliance Management, CEEDD
