Jason Gardner, Ph.D.

Head of ceedd

Jason joined GSK in 2005 following eight years in the biotech arena to become a member of the Lapatinib clinical team that led to the successful new drug application file for Tykerb in breast cancer in 2007. He then joined the ceedd, later becoming Head of Research and Alliance Management, and new alliances were established with several of the current partner companies. In 2009, he was asked to create and lead the Stem Cell Discovery Performance Unit (DPU) to deliver on the therapeutic and platform promise in regenerative medicine. Under his stewardship, the stem cell gene therapy alliance was formed with Telethon and the Rare Disease Unit, and the team spearheaded GSK's collaboration with the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. Jason was educated at Cambridge University where he received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Natural Sciences. He completed his Ph.D. at Oxford University and was a Research Fellow in Medicine at Harvard University. He is currently Head of the ceedd and the Stem Cell DPU in R&D at GSK.
